Enrollment Applications Open for Classes Starting August 17, 2020
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – July 14, 2018 – International School of San Antonio (ISSA), San Antonio’s most comprehensive international, full-immersion school, today announced that its first full academic year will begin August 17, 2020. The school is the only fully licensed French and Chinese immersion preschool in San Antonio, providing early childhood education to children from ages 2-12.
Classes are offered in full-time or half-time formats that meet five days per week. Small classes of six to eight students and a COVID-19 response plan in place reduce health risks to students compared to schools with hundreds of children enrolled. Parents can apply for admission to the 2020-21 academic year on the school’s website.
“In spite of the pandemic, we have seen strong interest in our programs,” said Katia Edrenkina, Chief Executive Officer of ISSA. “Unlike schools where language instruction is offered in one class session per day, our students meet, greet, eat, and participate in all activities in a language. Academics are based on elements of internationally recognized curricula, include global best practices, and align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.”
ISSA also collaborates with San Antonio parks and museums, including The DoSeum, the McNay Art Museum, and San Antonio Botanical Gardens to develop signature programs, events, and after-school activities. The school has been featured in local interviews with Families Empowered and San Antonio Charter Moms.
The new academic year follows a series of weekly classes and summer camps. The 2020 summer camps began July 6 and run through early August. During last year’s successful summer camps, 38 students participated in two tracks over three weeks. The program earned a 100% Net Promoter Score, and 90% of parents signed up for future programs.
