Our teachers communicate understandably, using gestures, visuals, repetition, and speaking slowly. These techniques are applied to all lessons, such as a math lesson or a story, enabling students to acquire Chinese as they learn other content. ISSA students become proficient in Chinese at an age-appropriate level.
Our holistic program exposes children to a broad range of subjects:
English language arts, including phonics, are introduced in preschool. Parents can choose an optional third language for their children offered weekly. Choices are Spanish, French, Chinese, or Russian.
Our Chinese preschool curriculum is aligned with Texas state education standards and exceeds requirements in language arts and mathematics. Courses are enhanced with global best practices, such as Singapore Math. The Chinese program includes stories and songs from the Chinese-speaking world as part of its language arts instruction. We also teach developmentally appropriate history and geography in the Chinese–speaking world.
In addition to full immersion preschool education, we foster an environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, respect for others, collaboration and teamwork, and kindness.
ISSA collaborates with San Antonio parks and museums, including The DoSeum, the McNay Art Museum, and San Antonio Botanical Gardens—developing signature programs, events and after-school activities.

Half Day: 8:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Before School: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
After School: 3:15 PM – 5:00 PM
