COVID-19 Response Plan

Dear Parents,

As the pandemic is slowing down and the vaccinations are going up, we are updating our COVID-19 Response plan.

Starting June 7, 2021, we will allow parents and visitors to enter the building but we will continue temperature screenings and the mask mandate will remain in place for anyone 12 years old and above.

Temperature screening

Families arriving at ISSA will follow a temperature screening procedure. One of our staff members will use a contactless thermometer to measure temperature of each student and parent entering the building. If the child’s temperature is above 100.3 F or 38 C, the child will not be permitted to come to school. Children with fevers and other respiratory symptoms will not be allowed to come back to school until they have been symptom-free for 48 hours. Teachers will also stay home if they have a fever or any other illness.

Small groups

Compared to other schools and child care centers, we are very small. This means that we have lower risk than programs that are much larger.

Handwashing and sanitizing

We will follow the handwashing, disinfecting, and general guidance for childcare for COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Measures include disinfecting frequently touched surfaces regularly throughout the day. We also added a handwashing sink outside on the playground. Students will always have access to a handwashing sink and a hand sanitizer.

Face masks

Teachers, parents and children 12 years old and above must wear face masks while at ISSA. Wearing masks for children younger than 12 years old is optional.

Regular testing

Testing is required for anyone with mild COVID-19 or cold-like symptoms. Regular preventive testing is recommended for all staff to identify asymptomatic cases.

As always, your feedback is very valuable to us, and if you would like to leave a comment or suggestion please feel free to email us at info@isax.com. Thank you for being a part of our community!

Dear Parents,

The re-opening of our school requires new protocols and procedures to not only ensure the health and safety of our families and staff, but also to do our part to ensure the safety of our community.

Cooperation from families

As part of our responsible re-opening, we need the cooperation of our families. After we re-open, we ask that if any member of your household is diagnosed with COVID-19, that you inform our school immediately. We reserve the option to close the school for the amount of time needed to mitigate the risk to students and staff (up to 14 days). We will move to online learning during the closure. Please follow the COVID-19 guidelines of the city of San Antonio and Bexar county at all times.

Temperature screening

We ask that only parents or other household members drop off or pick up children from ISSA.

Families arriving at ISSA will follow a temperature screening procedure. Parents will use the back entrance on a weekday (Monday through Friday) and the front (portico) entrance on Saturdays. At those entrances, there will be a station with a contactless thermometer.

If the parent or child’s temperature is above 100.3 F or 38 C, the child will not be permitted to come to school. Children with fevers and other respiratory symptoms will not be allowed to come back to school until they have been symptom-free for 48 hours. Teachers will also stay home if they have a fever or any other illness.

On Saturdays, parents should drop off and pick up children in the vestibule area. Children will then be escorted to their classrooms by the ISSA staff.

On weekdays (Monday through Friday), during our preschool program, parents should pick up children at the playground at the end of the day or by the back entrance if picked up earlier.

Small groups

Compared to other schools and child care centers, we are very small. This means that we have lower risk than programs that are much larger. Our class sizes are 6-8 children. Teachers stay with the same group.

Students will always have access to a handwashing sink.

Face masks

Teachers and children 6 years old and above must wear face masks while at ISSA. Parents must wear a face mask if they enter the school premises. Wearing masks for children younger than 6 years old is optional.

Preventive regular testing

To keep our community safe, starting October 30, ISSA requires bi-weekly COVID-19 testing for all staff.

Additional teacher trainings

All teachers will take an additional required health and safety training related to COVID-19 through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.

We are constantly learning new things about COVID-19 and how to prevent its spread. We will update our response plan as we receive new information.

As always, your feedback is very valuable to us, and if you would like to leave a comment or suggestion please feel free to email us at info@isax.com. Thank you for being a part of our community!
